But no - Goldstraw’s still live(ish) and kicking - just been hellishly busy. Perhaps one of the more positive aspects of self-employment is that it generally keeps one away from fripperies like blogging!

Health update: I have tinnitus.

What started as an intermittent whine in my left ear has become permanent. And at my cancer check-up a week ago they decided to order an MRI scan. Swell.

There could be any number of explanations for the tinnitus, of course. I did play with some loud bands over the last couple of years, and only recently took precautions to protect my ears properly.

On the other hand, some people have told me that radiotherapy can prematurely age the ear on the side treated, so maybe I’m just 45 going on 75.

Or there’s something called an acoustic neuroma. Google it if you wish - it scared the hell out of me.

I’m trying my best not to think about all this, but when you’ve got a permanent hissing in your lughole, it’s a bit difficult.
